Mr Jose, his father, would work extra hours with the municipality, yet he couldn’t realize adequate income to give his family a luxurious lifestyle. His wife, on the other hand, was a hardworking and talented cook. However, she couldn’t secure a lucrative job, despite the countless times she tried to. Ronaldo was born into a needy family.

Growing up wasn’t a flawless and effortless experience for Ronaldo. He had to battle depression, numerous heartbreaks, and low self-esteem. During his high school days, he always had a dispute with his teacher. Perhaps, his teacher was intimidating, thereby making Ronaldo’s learning process an uneasy one. A particular day came when Ronaldo, in anger and frustration, threw a chair at his teacher. This act was tagged an assault; thus, he was expelled from the school.

In 2005, Mr Jose, Ronaldo’s father, breathed his last and left the family for good. Fortunately, in 1995, he signed with local club national, a football club where his distinct potential was first discovered. This was exactly a decade before his father’s death.
